Glenview Crime and Safety Committee (CSC)
The Glenview Crime and Safety Committee is composed of members of the community dedicated to ensuring the safety of Glenview's residents. The 15 member committee is responsible for maintaining relationships with Oakland's policy makers and police department, leaders in neighboring communities, our Glenview merchants, the media, each other and more. These relationships help us in our fight to keep Glenview the safest and most desirable place to live in the East Bay.
Taking Action
Any Glenfriend is welcome to suggest and lead a crime and safety related action item. The committee is here to help you formulate the action plan and work with individuals and groups throughout Oakland necessary for the action item to succeed. Glenview Walking Groups
A great way to connect with your neighbors and have fun while doing your part to deter crime is to join us for evening walks around Glenview. There is no greater deterrence for would be criminals than streets alive with activity. The pack of walkers around Glenview certainly liven up our streets with their laughter, group songs and all around camaraderie. Personal Protection
If you're in need of personal protection for the home and/or auto, the CSC has you covered. Whether it's something as simple as a Club for your car or a more complex alarm system that connects home and auto to a single system, we are working with security merchants to get the items you need at prices you can afford. Disaster Planning
The CSC is also your contact to find out more on disaster planning. We're working with Citizens of Oakland Respond to Emergencies (C.O.R.E.) to hold an annual disaster planning education event for everyone in Glenview. In addition, if you would like to host a more intimate meeting for you and your neighbors, we can help you plan one.
